Lisel and Stanley, 18 Oct 09, Regent Hotel (Wedding Live Band)

Adeline’s Thoughts: Dream A Little Dream Sometimes when the crowd is silent, we often wonder if the crowd is actually listening to us. So we continued merrily as we played and sang our renditions of the various songs. We were quite pleasantly surprised to have people coming up to us, giving us their compliments at the end of our set and asking us for our name cards. *Smiles. When Lisel walked in for her 2nd march-in, the first thing that…

Sandra and TJ, 11 Oct 09, Four Seasons (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts – So Nice Hmmm some of the many reasons why I like performing at weddings. They are heartwarming, happy occasions. Some of the songs which we performed may have a significance to the couple or even the guests.  Performing great songs with like-minded musician-friends. And of course, enlivening up the other-wise standard dinner programme and knowing that we have contributed one way in another to the overall ambience to the wedding. 🙂 So when TJ and Sandra…

Charlotte and Wee Hian, 10 Oct 09, Ritz Carlton (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts:  What a Wonderful World I really like the ‘nature’ inspired theme for Charlotte and Wee Hian’s wedding.  Beautiful flower decorations on each table, striking trimmed tree pedestals along the pathway, a wedding cake decorated with vines and leaves etc. In fact, when the band arrived at 6pm for the sound check-up, the entire ballroom was abuzz with activity as hotel staff and other helpers were busy getting the ballroom ready for the wedding.  The Ritz Carlton ballroom…

Georgina and Vincent, 4 Oct 09, Amara Sanctuary (Wedding Live Band)

Ji Xiang’s Thoughts: Been Around The World Hui Bing and I always enjoy performing at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, as it always feels like you are going on a short ‘getaway’ while going on Sentosa Gateway from mainland Singapore. Nestled within the tropical gardens on the hillside of Sentosa’s popular Palawan Beach, the crew and managers at Amara Sanctuary are also very polite and professional. We are always able to get good EQ from the friendly AV coordinator. The first…

Tony and Hui Min, 3 Oct 09, Carlton Hotel (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: All the Love in the World Tony and Min’s love story really shows that sometimes, two people are really fated to be with each other 🙂 Their mutual friend Daphne had the instinct that they will be compatible and had arranged for them to meet more than once. The first meeting was cancelled, and Tony couldn’t make it for the second meeting. Despite these initial obstacles, Daphne continued to stay in touch with both of them.  Finally,…

April and Agus, 2 Oct 09, Four Seasons (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: I Will Follow Him   I meant it when I said ‘A warm welcome to all the beautiful ladies and gentlemen’ as April and Agus’ guests dressed to the nines for their wedding, wearing beautiful gowns, smart suits and tuxedos. I thought the ensemble for that night was just perfect – with Lim Hui on violin and Joel on double bass and Matt on keys, who in his creative and unique style, always try to vary the…

Philip and Hazel, 30 Sep 09, Meritus Mandarin (Wedding Live Band)

Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Today I Met The Boy I’m Gonna Marry I met Hazel by chance at Island Creamery a few days before her wedding. She recognised me from this blog, and she called out to me. I was hoping to speak with Philip too, but he wasn’t there. Sometimes, I don’t get to meet couples whose wedding I had found other singers (in her case – Hui Bing and Zheng Quan), so I was really glad to meet Hazel.…

Jonathan and Priscilla, 27 Sep 09, Novotel Clarke Quay (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: Dream A Little Dream The perks of getting a live band so that you can use it to dedicate special messages to the ones that mattered to you most. And that’s what Jonathan and Priscilla did, by choosing three unique songs for their parents, their friends who had travelled miles to attend their wedding, and their ‘brothers and sisters’. What’s a wedding without the brothers? They truely add spice and laughter to the entire evening, as they played a game…

Joanne and Kenneth, 26 Sep 09, Villa Halia (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: Love In The First Degree If I can describe Kenneth & Joanne’s wedding in three words, it will be Full, Fun and Fantastic. Full as we had a fuller band accompanying me and Jerome that night – Jixiang on guitar, Ivan on sax and Shawn on percussion. The music from this dynamic trio in black was as tight as a button, perfect for the disco and uptempo songs that the couple has selected. I didn’t know that…

Han Boon and Rachel, 21 Sep 09, Pacific Ballroom, Pan Pacific (Wedding Live Band)

Adeline’s Thoughts: 每天爱你多一些 (Every Day I Love You More) Indeed opposites attract. The first thing that struck me about Han Boon was how affable and gregarious he was, being so comfortable addressing the crowd. Xiaoxian, on the otherhand was this very poised and demure lady who exudes a calm demeanour. He would always make her laugh and she would never fail to give him her support. They definitely complement each other perfectly. The highlight of the event was undeniably the…

Paulyn and Nelson, 20 Sep 09, Sheraton Towers (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s thoughts: 小情歌 (Little Love Song) It was the magical date 20.09.2009 and I was happy to celebrate with two very talented guys by performing at Paulyn and Nelson’s wedding. We asked the newly weds how early they booked the venue. Surprisingly, they managed to secure this date within a year! Probably because they had a smaller number of tables (less than 20) than the usual couple. It was a small, simple wedding with its classy black decor. I…

Melissa and Lawrence, 8 Aug 09, Raffles Hotel (Wedding Live Band)

Matthew’s thoughts: Anyone At All I’ll remember this particular wedding for a few things. Firstly, the lovely bride Michelle had put so much thought into her first march-in it took me by surprise! She chose Carol King’s Anyone At All (“…you could’ve been anyone at all….”) and usually, it’s the band’s job to arrange it with the hotel people i.e. Letting them know how the sequence would go, just so they know when to open the doors (rocket science, really.)…

Hwei Boon and Gabriel, 8 Aug 09, Mandarin Court, Meritus Mandarin (Wedding Live Band)

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: The Prayer The newly renovated Mandarin Court took my breath away as it is the first time I have been to a three-tiered ballroom.  Unlike other ballrooms which are flat, there were tables located on three different mezanine levels with beautifully decorated staircases and landings, all leading to the main stage in the centre, giving guests a complete view of the stage as well as other guests in the ballroom.  Though my feet ached like hell after…

Zhiguang and Huifen, 2 Aug 09 (Wedding Live Band)

Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: 出嫁 (Getting Married) The eloquent emcees at Zhiguang and Huifen’s wedding described the couple thus: Zhiguang was 忠厚老实 (loyal and sincere), while Huifen was 秀外慧中 (beautiful and intelligent). The audience agreed, and clapped enthusiastically when the bridal couple entered the ballroom for their solemnisation ceremony. I remembered being impressed by Zhiguang and Huifen’s sincerity when they turned to the audience and bowed deeply (bent their bodies at 90 degrees) after the solemniser pronouned them husband and wife!…

National Day Light-up cum Sing-a-long Performance, 11 Jul 09, View Resident’s Committee (Corporate Live Music/Band)

Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Home Hui Bing and Tian Yao took a break from performing at weddings by singing at a community event. It was a really novel experience, as they needed to practice singing the songs they grew up with, like “One People One Nation One Singapore”, “Singapura Sunny Island”. The audience’s reaction was really warm, and didn’t dampen even though there was a light drizzle halfway through. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of the event!…

Yong Mei and Khai Yang, 4 Jul 09, Conrad (Wedding Live Band)

Sofyan’s thoughts: She’s The One Blank… I didn’t realize it’s so much easier to sing than to pen down my thoughts in a blog! But in any case, here it is. It was my debut singing performance for a wedding with A Little Dream. I was pretty nervous at first, but I soon became relaxed after meeting Yong Mei and Khai Yang. They’re such nice people, and a great loving couple. At one part of the banquet, the couple showed…

Hui Bing’s Thoughts: Thank You I have been very late penning this blog entry as I was quite tied up over the past few weeks. But I have no problem recollecting the happy moments from Eileen and Alan’s wedding. Eileen and Alan came specially to meet me to discuss their wedding programme and it was great to be able to speak to them in advance so that I can see how the band can help make this joyous occasion more memorable.…

Terence and Peiwen, 28 Jun 09, Sindora Ballroom, Crowne Plaza, Changi Airport (Wedding Live Band)

Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: 今生注定 (My Destiny) Peiwen is such a sweetheart. At first, Terence agreed to engage only Ji Xiang and myself to perform. Peiwen felt that having another singer would be even more romantic and secretly got in touch with me to add one more singer and tweak the song list to include more duets. Peiwen wrote, “Don’t tell Terence!” It felt as if she was whispering in my ear, “Terence has done so much for me, I should…

Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Ordinary Miracles It’s not that usual when everything is beautiful It’s just another ordinary miracle today Ordinary miracles awaited me on 14 June, the day of Boon Peng and Candie’s wedding celebration at Mandarin Oriental. The ‘little’ things reminded me of what a miracle it is for love to bind two people as they embark on a journey to last a lifetime. For example, the candid photographs which the couple picked to showcase during the dinner showed…

Feng-Ji and Jane, 6 Jun 09, Grand Copthorne Waterfront (Wedding Live Band)

Ivan’s Thoughts: 甜蜜蜜 (Honey Sweet) We found out that there was a romantic story behind Feng-Ji and Jane’s choice for their 1st march-in song – 陪我看日出 (1st March-in) (Watch The Sunrise With Me). Before they got together, Feng-Ji had asked Jane to meet him at 6am to watch the sunrise together, and his request was turned down by Jane as it was too early. Jane eventually agreed when he proposed 6.30am instead! The couple also had a detailed 13-page ‘Wedding…
