If you have been to a few weddings this year, you could not have missed out on these 6 songs. Here we explain the logic behind the trend!
1. All Of Me – John Legend
It’s no wonder that this song sounds so authentically romantic – the song was written by John Legend specially for his wife Chrissy Teigen.
Tired of the original version? Check out this duet cover by Jason Chen x Madilyn Bailey that puts double the romance on the table.
2. Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran
(Verse)
When your legs don’t work like they used to before
And I can’t sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks
(Chorus)
And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am
With lyrics like that, it’s hard not to swoon, especially if you had watched the music video where Ed Sheeran trained 5 hours a day for three weeks to practice with Brittany Cherry, a contestant from the televised American dance competition, So You Think You Can Dance. The contemporary lyrical dance choreography shouts of romance from the beginning to the end.
3. A Thousand Years (Christina Perri)
Taken from the album The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
It may have seemed like a thousand times that you’ve heard the song since its debut in 2011, but do not be surprised that many wedding couples/guests are still requesting for the song, especially when the lyrics are so apt for a march-in:
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything
Take away
What’s standing in front of me
Every breath,
Every hour has come to this
One step closer…
4. Beautiful In White – Shane Filan / Westlife
This song is obviously written for weddings…. It’s no wonder that this song is commonly used for marching down the aisle… !
(Verse)
What we have is timeless
My love is endless
And with this ring I
Say to the world
You’re my every reason
You’re all that I believe in
With all my heart I mean every word
(Chorus)
So as long as I live I love you
Will have and hold you
You look so beautiful in white
And from now til my very last breath
This day I’ll cherish
You look so beautiful in white
Tonight
5. 小幸运 – Hebe 田馥甄
Taken off the sound track of the Taiwanese movie 《我的少女時代》 (Our Times), the song went viral with the craze for the movie. It was such a highly requested song not just in pubs but also at weddings even though the lyrics are not suitable at weddings (but we shall leave that to the next blog post!).
6. 最重要的决定 – 范玮琪 (Christine Fan)
《最重要的决定》was a song specially customised for 范玮琪 (Christine Fan) when she was preparing for her wedding to 黑人 back in 2011. The song turned out to be a hit at almost every wedding in Singapore since then with its heart-warming melody and earnest lyrics:
(Verse)
(Chorus)
你是我最重要的决定
我愿意 每天在你身边苏醒
就连吵架也很过瘾 不会冷冰
因为真爱没有输赢只有亲密
With 2 more months to go before the end of 2016, we are confident that these 6 songs will still clinch the ‘Top 6 most requested songs’ positions at weddings!
