Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Only You
What a night! Jerry and his wife threw a thanksgiving dinner for their close friends at St Regis, and it was a night of melodius carolling, touching speeches and raucous merrymaking.
There was much to give thanks for, as Jerry and his wife just celebrated the birth of their fourth child, who was actually sleeping in a cot placed in front of the stage!
A highlight of the evening was the mass singing of traditional Christmas carols. Jerry had two good friends, Carol and Geoffrey, to lead the carolling, and they did an excellent job. Carol prepared beautiful slides with pictures and lyrics to guide the audience, while Geoffrey gave some background and history behind each carol.
Apart from the carols, Jerry wanted to hear some oldies, and I thoroughly enjoyed digging into my oldies drawer and delivering classics like Under The Boardwalk and Unchained Melody.
The guests, many of whom were top-notch singers, came up to us often to dedicate songs or sing. I was happy to let them take the mike, and enjoy the experience of performing with a live band. I was fortunate to have the company of Sharon, Melvin and Ivan, who drew praise from the audience throughout the night.
To Jerry: thank you so much for having us. It was our privilege to perform for you and your guests!
