Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: 出嫁 (Getting Married)
The eloquent emcees at Zhiguang and Huifen’s wedding described the couple thus: Zhiguang was 忠厚老实 (loyal and sincere), while Huifen was 秀外慧中 (beautiful and intelligent). The audience agreed, and clapped enthusiastically when the bridal couple entered the ballroom for their solemnisation ceremony.
I remembered being impressed by Zhiguang and Huifen’s sincerity when they turned to the audience and bowed deeply (bent their bodies at 90 degrees) after the solemniser pronouned them husband and wife!
I was so glad the couple prepared video highlights of the gate-crashing ceremony for the audience to watch, because it was hilarious. I was in stitches when I saw the usually unflappable Zhiguang break into cold sweat after being asked a few tough questions by the bridesmaids who guarded the gate.
Bridesmaid (confident that Zhiguang wouldn’t be able to answer): What’s Huifen’s favourite sport?
Zhiguang (desperate): Sleeping!
Bridesmaid (looking fierce): How many children does she want?
Zhiguang (even more desperate): Two…er…three….er two!
Hui Bing, Linus and I were deeply appreciative of the guests, who clapped after every song. It was a tremendous confidence-booster for us, knowing that the audience enjoyed our music.
Congratulations, Zhiguang and Huifen! We really enjoyed ourselves; thank you for inviting us to be a part of your beautiful wedding!
