Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Counting Their Blessings
Anyone who still harbours thoughts of accountants as penny-pinching bean counters should flush their misconceptions down the toilet! At the very least, those clichés don’t apply to Charlene and Almas. In fact, they are one of the few who offered to pay us more than what was agreed. Initially, they wanted to engage one singer and two musicians. Then they realised that they had selected a number of duets, so they asked for one more singer to join the group. That’s how I found myself singing and hosting for the lovely couple on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Almas also shattered another stereotype of accountants as being staid and risk-averse squares by deciding to do a Bobby mere minutes before the banquet was about to begin! (He did a Jowie too, but for that, he had prior notice.)
Okay I will stop speaking in code: he agreed to propose to Charlene again, right after he crooned Jacky Cheung’s soulful classic 你的名字我的姓氏 (Your Name, My Surname).
The next song on our list was Perfect Moment. Couldn’t have been better timing. I remarked to Bevlyn, “I think I witnessed a Perfect Moment on stage just now.”

Compliments from Almas:
Hi, just want to thank you for the fantastic proposal idea. It was so romantic that one of Charlene’s friends felt like getting married at that moment 🙂 The guests really enjoyed the band’s performance and your hosting. Well done, and send my congrats to your team.
In fact, quite a few of our friends who are getting married are asking for your contact details. So I believe you will have a lot of chances to add sparks and romance to many more couples on their Big Day.
Really nice to know you, and keep in touch!
