Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: 世界唯一的你 (The One And Only You In The World)

All’s fair in love and war, as they say. The story goes that Wayne overhead his schoolmate professing his interest in Simin. But Wayne was secretly carrying a torch for the demure, leggy young lady. So Wayne went on the offensive, and sought to win Simin’s heart.

After a particularly enjoyable night out, Wayne sent an SMS to Simin, asking if she’d be his girlfriend. Simin didn’t make it easy for Wayne however, and a flurry of SMSes went back and forth between the two. Finally, Simin relented and agreed to Wayne’s request.

The above story was presented in the form of a multimedia video with cartoons and amusing captions. According to Wayne and Simin, it was made by a talented friend of theirs. The guests certainly found it entertaining, judging by the peals of laughter I head.

To me, the highlight of the wedding celebration was Wayne’s emotive serenade of 世界唯一的你 (The One And Only You In The World). I knew from before that Wayne was a talented er-hu player, but I didn’t know he had an impressive set of pipes. He chose to sing this romantic number to welcome his lovely bride, who walked into the ballroom with her father. Simin confessed to me later that Wayne’s stunning performance melted her heart. Way to go, Wayne!
