Bevlyn’s thoughts: When You Wish Upon A Star

My strongest memory of Xinyun and Terrence was their going down to one Rochester to ‘preview’ our band many months before the wedding date, and I came to understand the need for them to do so – Xinyun is a teacher, and we all know that teachers are really swamped with work right!

The repertoire they had chosen was a well-mix of jazz, English and Mandarin classics, and Hokkien songs. I only know from Terrence that evening that he was the one who requested for 牵我的手 (Hold My Hand) because he loves the song very much. It was my first attempt at the song, and I’m glad he got to listen to it!

I had such a good time singing for their wedding, to be honest it was almost like a concert because we were on the stage and the sound system was excellent – the soundman made all the difference.

A special part of the wedding was when Xinyun dedicated a birthday song to her cousin Yizhao, who flew in specially from Hong Kong to attend her wedding. Their relationship must be very good because I thought I saw Yizhao tearing a bit when the birthday cake was brought out.

Incidentally, I met my Primary School classmate who happened to be one of Xinyun’s ‘sisters’; she knew I was going to perform at the wedding partly because the couple had printed my name and the name of our band on the invitation cards! Wow. Not even in my wildest dreams!

Hi Bev!

I’m just back from Malaysia.. and will be flying off again tomorrow. I will send you some bridal photos first.. and when the photos from my actual day are received, I will send them to you again.

Thanks for the blog on us. We really enjoyed your songs, and our friends and relatives also loved it.. My mother-in-law said that the older relatives were singing “yi ren yi ban” together with you 🙂

Thanks for making the wedding memorable.. and I’m glad everything went perfectly well 🙂

Thanks again!

Love,
Xinyun
