Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: Lovin’ You

I always get excited when I meet someone who reads this blog.  So when I discovered that Francis is an avid reader, I was delighted.  We had a good long chat discussing his relationship with Agnes; I spent half of that time trying to persuade him to sing a song, to no avail.

Undaunted, I asked him to reenact his proposal.  It’s quite a charming story.  This was what he told me.

“About close to 3 years of dating, I decided that Agnes would be my one and only.  I then arranged the proposal to fall on the day of our 3rd anniversay.  I booked one corner of a restaurant; it was an isolated corner with a dining table and a sofa set to ourselves.  After we moved to the sofa to have our dessert, the restaurant owner approached Agnes and told that I had dedicated a love song for her and asked her to take note of the lyrics.  Halfway through the song, the restaurant owner presented her with a box and said it was from me.  When she opened the box, she saw dozens of roses and four slips of paper.  The slips of paper had the words, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ A: ‘Yes, I Do’ B: ‘Of Course’ & C: ‘Absolutely’. That was the moment when I went down on my knees and proposed with a diamond ring.  She accepted my proposal and we celebrated with a bottle of champagne and strawberries with icing.”

So I got Francis to propose again onstage.  Agnes didn’t even hesitate for one moment before she answered, “Yes!”

Apart from celebrating the union of this lovely couple, Francis and Agnes specially arranged for birthday cakes to be given to two of their guests.  I got everyone to sing the Birthday Song, and it was fun!  We also enjoyed singing all the English songs first, followed by the Mandarin songs.   I was joking that we had to switch from Channel 5 to Channel 8.  It was a test of my language skills, to be sure, as I was the emcee that night too.

Congratulations, Francis and Agnes!  We had a fantastic time at your wedding.  Thank you for engaging us, and we hope to see you again soon!

I must say the entire wedding ceremony was extremely successful, there were almost no hiccups and the night was beautiful with your band’s music. I have to comment that your band’s performance was absolutely fantastic.

During my photo taking session which I have to walk about, quite a few guest were singing and humming along with your songs.  A lot of my guests asked me about the band and commented that the performance was good with quite a few guests saying that the Chinese set was exceptionally good. I think the Chinese songs sang in jazzy flavor were well received.

My wife‘s colleagues were so mesmerized by your singing that they wanted to dedicate some more songs for you guys to sing but it was too bad that you guys have finished the 2 sets of performance.

It has been one month plus after my wedding and my during my gathering on the Labour day, I am still being asked about your band when I showed them the wedding photos. Thanks to you guys to create an extra topic to talk about for my wedding.

My wife and I would like to express a very big ‘Thank You’ to you guys and please continue to pursue this passion for music and continue to bring more joy, happiness and fun to whatever event you guys may engage in.
