Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: You Mean Everything To Me

Don and Sharon were such friendly people that I felt like I’d known them for years, even though we’d never met each other prior to the wedding.

Sharon looked lovely that day. Her hair was combed into a towering beehive, which showed off her sparkling tiara to the hilt. We had been corresponding through e-mails since February, so it was exciting just to be able to put a face to the name. When Sharon saw me, she grabbed my hands and exclaimed, “It’s so good to finally meet you!” Well, Sharon, same goes for me!

Don was the gracious host, and kept asking his guests to relax and have fun. Although his guests were the kind to have fun quietly, Sharon assured me that they enjoyed the band very much.

It was also my first time performing at the Gallery Room at the Fort Canning Centre. According to the National Heritage Board, Fort Canning Centre used to be the barracks of the British Army. Now, it’s home to one of Singapore’s modern performing arts companies, Singapore Dance Theatre and a cooking academy. It’s a little off the beaten path, but the green and natural surroundings were a welcome change from the usual hotels and restaurants.

Thanks, Sharon and Don, for engaging us! We had a lovely time!

Wedding Tips:

(1) Ask your guests to relax and have fun!
(2) Couples who wish to engage a live band for their wedding at Fort Canning Centre need to set aside a small budget for a separate sound system as the Gallery Room does not have an adequate one for a band.
(3) Ask the band to wear colours that fit your theme

Compliments from Sharon:

Thank you for serenading my guests with your singing.

It was a pity that the response was rather lukewarm (I half suspected everyone was already hungry and food was clearly the topmost priority on their minds!) so it came as a surprise even to myself when many guests came up to me after dinner to compliment on what an awesome band we had engaged and how much it helped to liven up the casual cosy ambience we wanted to achieve.

Even days after the wedding, we are still receiving compliments on the somewhat unique and romantic setup for the night, which could not have been possible if any one element of romance were missing.

Thank you Hsin Yeow for also adding the personal touch to fall in with my theme wedding with the specially purchased green shirt. Every guest was impressed by how the vibrant colours all came together, from the handpicked flowers, the scented pouches to even the green shirt you donned for the night!

A Little Dream was the last fitting element to complete the picture of the fairytale wedding I have always longed for. Thank you for the lifetime of sweet memories.

(Hsin Yeow: Sharon! You just killed me with that last line. That was the BEST compliment I could ever receive! Thank you!)
