Bevlyn’s thoughts: Just Because
I was looking forward excitedly to this wedding performance because of the excellent song choices by Janice. She had chosen some songs which were not so commonly heard in weddings (or I should say, I don’t commonly sing) – Time After Time, Lady In Red, Crazy For You, Just Because, just to name a few.
On top of that, pairing up with James was a delight, because his funk-influenced playing gave each song (well almost every except the ballads) a brand new arrangement.
James and I were located right facing the ballroom door, and it was a refreshing view for us this time round, because I finally get the catch the first view of the couple for a change. I still remember vividly the surprise look on Wee Teck’s face when he first see so many guests standing up to receive Janice and him into the ballroom – priceless 🙂
Janice told me she got to know about us through Wee Teck’s colleague Aloysius – Wee Teck attended Aloysius’ wedding in Jan this year. 8 mths later, it certainly was great to meet up with Aloysius at a wedding again, only difference was, he was seated throughout the dinner!
It was a while since I last sing at M hotel’s ballroom, and I was surprised to hear the excellent sound quality of its in-house system – I thought I was giving a concert (yes the system was THAT good). The staff and manager were very nice to us too – I think it’s important to have happy staff when we’re dealing with weddings!
The guests were a bit shy with their applause, but I suppose they did take to the music afterall because some of them came up to me for song requests towards the end of the performance!
