Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: 在我生命中的每一天 (In Every Day Of My Life)
When it comes to buying appropriate gifts, I always seek the help of my wife or female friends. They have a knack of knowing what to get, where to buy and how much to pay. Eight years ago, Andy sought the help of Alicia, his new colleague, to purchase a Christmas present for his client.
Andy and Alicia arranged to meet one afternoon to buy the gift. That was their first ‘date’. In return, Andy treated Alicia to a meal at Dome (their second ‘date’). As it was near Christmas, Andy found himself needing Alicia’s help more and more. It didn’t take long for Andy to realise that he had to find an excuse to meet up with Alicia after the gift-giving season is over.
Andy and Alicia were guests at Esther and Teck Kiang’s wedding, and they engaged us after liking what they heard. Fortunately, they were as sporting as Esther and Teck Kiang, and readily agreed to sing a duet during the dinner reception too.
The song they picked was 在我生命中的每一天 (In Every Day Of My Life), and it seemed tailor-made for their vocals. Andy’s husky baritone was balanced by Alicia’s bright voice, and their performance drew much applause. Congratulations, Alicia and Andy, for doing so well despite taking only 15 minutes to rehearse!
After singing our final song, we were pleasantly surprised when we were told by the banquet manager to continue another half hour. Andy and Alicia didn’t want the live music to stop, so we continued singing until the very end. We had a ball, fielding song requests and getting the audience to clap and sing along with us! Thank you Andy and Alicia!
P.S. We didn’t get a chance to take a photo with Esther and Teck Kiang, so we made it up this time round. It was great seeing both of them again!
