Bevlyn’s thoughts: Close To You
Shumei and Junhow booked the band close to one year ago, and frankly, I am always very touched by couples who try to secure a band early because it shows the importance they place on live music, much like other popular wedding services like photography/videography/bridal studio packages etc.
On the evening itself, it warmed my heart to realise it was the couple’s intention to keep everything cosy and simple, like a simple family and close friends’ gathering to have good fun and great food.
To start the dinner off, the shy couple stood beside the band to greet everyone, along with the two lovely emcees, who incidentally were the ideal emcees because of their close ties to the couple and hence could help share their take of the couple’s love story with the rest of the guests. Apparently, Shumei and Junhow got to know each other during the orientation camp in NTU, and the emcees (in the same orientation camp) also described with great humour how they all gelled to form what they call themselves ‘The Village’.
I have to admit I was feeling a little jittery because there were quite a handful of new songs like I Concentrate On You, Everybody Loves Somebody, Love And Marriage, etc. But once the music by Edward and Shawn kicked in, we had such a blast! Especially when some of the guests, and a little girl joined in to sing Love, Me. Towards the middle of the performance, the children were all dancing and having fun beside the band!

By the end of the evening when alcohol started to manifest its effects, rowdy calls for the couple to do a slow dance could be heard emitting from ‘The Village’. Shumei and Junhow are a very reserved couple, and though initially uncomfortable with the idea, they were nevertheless gamed enough to slow-dance to my song A Love Song (To Show You How I Feel) to the applause of many guests, including of course, ‘The Village’.
Thank you Shumei and Junhow for inviting us to such a cosy and intimate wedding! The band had such an excellent time performing to your wonderful guests. We wish you all the best in your marriage life, and please keep in touch!

Songs To Recommend:
Love And Marriage by Frank Sinatra – This cute little piece is definitely a crowd-pleaser.
All Of Me by Frank Sintra – I love the lyrics of this song (full lyrics here here:
Take my lips – I want to lose them
Take my arms – I’ll never use them
You took the part – that once was my heart
So why not – why not take all of me?
I Concentrate On You by Cole Porter/Frank Sinatra – A difficult piece to deliver, but the lyrics remains endearing:
Whenever skies look gray to me and trouble begins to brew
Whenever the winter winds become too strong
I concentrate on you…
