Bevlyn’s thoughts: Fly Me To The Moon
When Lin Lin approached me to sing at her wedding, I was elated, mainly because she is my ex-primary school classmate. Though we were not buddies back at school, the idea of being the wedding-singer for someone you had known since childhood was cool….to me 🙂
Out of curiosity, I asked Lin Lin why she had chosen Novotel Clarke Quay as the wedding venue, she said, “Oh we had a few venues in mind, including Novotel Clarke Quay, but when we chanced upon the tie-up promotion your band has with Novotel Clarke Quay, we decided to choose it.” WOW!
I was also the emcee for the evening, and usually we’re nice emcees who do not relish ‘sabo-ing’ couples. But while chatting to a couple of ex primary school classmates, they planted into me the idea of getting Kit Sun to sing a song. I quickly went over to Kit Sun before the start of the banquet, with Lin Lin at the other corner of the reception.
“Har, sing a song ah. Cannot lah! Wait all the people will run”, Kit Sun said humbly.
“But you can surprise your bride. Any song you want to do, we’ll try to accompany you.” I said.
Before Lin Lin’s suspicions was aroused, he had come up with a song title.
So after the couple’s speech, I promptly put the whole music-stand in front of the couple, looked at Lin Lin and said “Lin Lin, you’re gonna sing right?”. Lin Lin looked back at me with incredibly big eyes. Then I turned to Kit Sun and broke the news to the guests that Kit Sun was actually the one who wanted to serenade his wife with a song. Almost like a professional, he took on the whole song with guts, rhythm and zest, even looking at his beautiful bride several times during the unrehearsed performance.

Congratulations Kit Sun and Lin Lin. It was a pleasure to be your emcee and wedding-singer, and thanks for choosing some of the really enjoyable songs for the band like “Tea For Two”, “Strangers In the Night”, “To Be With You” and 你的倒影 (Your Reflection). We wish you a blissful marriage ahead!

Kit Sun’s father, who said, “I sent Kit Sun to Singapore for further studies and he came back with a wife.
There must be something about Singaporean women!”
Kit Sun, like his Dad, is Malaysian. They both married Singaporean women!
