Bevlyn’s thoughts: A Moment Like This
Irma and Yang Lim’s love story got me thinking – for 2 persons with a passion for a sport as vigorous as touch rugby, they are way too shy when it comes to love affairs:
“I was in ladies touch rugby team of Singapore Recreational Club (SRC). Yang Lim was in the guys rugby team. In 2001, our club organised touch rugby competitions, and both of us were in the committee… Around 6 months after that, because of our common interest and friends, we started playing touch rugby together. After the game, usually we went out for dinner in a group…. we hardly (or probably never) talked to each other. One day, a friend of Yang Lim (also SRC rugby player) played matchmaker. He forwarded my HP number to him and Yang Lim’s HP number to me. As we were both too shy, it took us a few months to start sms-ing each other. Just sms, no call. Another few good months for Yang Lim to ask me out for dinner date through sms (no call)….”
I actually googled to find out more about touch rugby and one of its rules made me thought about their love story:
“If a touch is considered to be too strong”. PENALTY (Rule #17). Is being touch rugby-trained the reason why they are more cautious to call or sms each other? 🙂
During the speech, Irma recalled how she dreaded coming to Singapore to study when she was younger. But she is now thankful for her parents’ decision, for without which, she would not have found the love of her life!
We had a great time performing at the wedding because the guests were very appreciative. One ‘a-ha’ moment for me was during our break after the 1st set – my good friend sms me to said she was among the guests. How small Singapore really is!
Thank you Irma and Yang Lim for inviting us to be a part of your wedding. Here’s a cheers to many blissful years to come! Congratulations!

Hi Bev & team
Thank you for your wonderful performance at our wedding last sunday. Our guests, both young and old, were awed, and sang you praises. You really livened up the whole lunch banquet.
Thanks once again
