Juliet’s thoughts: Cheek To Cheek

It is awesome to play with Mei Sheum and Wah Yong again, all dear friends, and we had many conversations through playing at Ariel and Weizhong’s wedding last night.

I believe the audience must have been one of the loveliest and sweetest, most attentive bunch we’ve ever performed to, applauding almost at every song we performed.

I was quite in love with that samba of the Close To You (Carpenters) we had played during soundcheck, but we decided to balance the cha-chas for the night with something a little groovier, so we went for a funk version instead.

Speaking of cha-chas, it was quite interesting doing Cheek To Cheek, a usual swing dance number, in the cha-cha style. Upon request from the groom’s dad, and my very minimal recollection of the lyrics from the pop song 小薇 (Xiao Wei), the band managed a short lil’ rendition of the song and then ended the night with every clapping to Tianmimi as we ended our performance for the wedding.

Oh and we had a ‘lil fun with moustaches and such with the lovely photographers.

Compliments:

The band was entertaining and engaging. Juliet was able to command attention from the crowd. She even asked my father-in-law if he would like to sing!

Their song selection was also very good. My sisters said all the songs were very nice.

I think everyone loved them. Great performance!
