Bevlyn’s thoughts: When You Know
Vernon and Wyendi got to know each other 6 years ago through one of the most common match-makers these days – the Internet. They were online pals for years but they never meet up until Wyendi decided to ask Vernon out for a few games of pool. For the coming weeks they met up on every weekend and soon became a couple.
When asked what Vernon likes about Wyendi, this seemingly man-of-few-words only gave me 4 adjectives: caring, cheerful, outgoing, sporty. Wyendi on the other hand, gushed about Vernon: “He has been my ‘mobile encyclopedia‘, handyman and ‘shopping bags carrier’…. all these without complains. He is the most patient guy I have ever come across. [He} complements my quick temper as he is level-headed. He is game for all the sports (eg. .cycling, badminton, trekking….)
The couple chose Kenny G’s Loving You as their 1st march-in song. Boon Chye and Ein Ein delivered the song to a T.
When I was singing Grow Old With You with one line of the lyrics going “I’ll even let you hold the remote control”, I remember teasing Vernon if he’d be willing to let Wyendi hold on to the remote control; he quickly nodded – I suppose weddings are the best time to get the groom to say yes to anything 😀
The 2nd march-in song was a beautiful song by Shawn Colvin, When You Know. It quickly became my favourite with its simple and unassuming lyrics. The shy couple didn’t want to give a speech, and so on behalf of the couple, we performed a song chosen by them, At Your Side (see Songs To Recommend segment below) to dedicate to the friends who had been with them all these while, and those who helped them out on their big day.
