Hsin Yeow’s thoughts: The First Time

It was a beautiful sunny day, and Andrew and Gillian’s friends were all waiting patiently for the solemnisation ceremony to begin.

On cue, Bevlyn started singing Lover’s Concerto, and Gillian began walking down the aisle with her father, her pixie-like face radiant with love. When Gillian’s dad handed her over to Andrew, I could see that Andrew was overwhelmed with joy. His eyes brimmed with happy tears, and Gillian smile shone even brighter than the rays of the afternoon sun.

After the solemnisation ceremony, I met Andrew again in the men’s room. He was still dabbing his eyes, and I tried to distract him a bit by asking about his trip to Switzerland. He had travelled there with Gillian in July to take his pre-wedding photographs. They spent two glorius days with John Lim, who took countless stunning photos, like the one below.

Gillian seemed to know how emotional Andrew could be, so she took the microphone and gave a beautiful speech. I loved how she used the old photos in their wedding montage as a starting point. She said including those photos was a way of remembering those who could not present at the wedding.

Bevlyn, Melvin and I had a great time at the wedding. There was much enthusiastic applause from the audience, and we received several compliments for our music.

Congratulations, Andrew and Gillian!
