Bevlyn’s thoughts: Can’t Help Falling In Love

It was the first time that we performed in Royal China Restaurant, and my eyes were greeted by the soothingly homogenous baby blue colour beautifully coated over the walls, pillars and doors in the interiors. “Tiffany-blue” was what Adalyn commented when I pointed out how much I love the blue. She also shared with me that they had a party for their family and friends the evening before, and the banquet that evening was really more for family members. She had told them “Just come and eat”.

And indeed, it was a very cosy and intimate family affair. The couple cued the commencement of the feast with their march-in to the band’s performance of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. Then everyone started tucking in to the good food. There was no cake-cutting, champagne-pouring and all that jazz, but the lack of them did not make the wedding less interesting at all. Guests were singing along with me, curious children were coming up to the band to dance, and guests were taking pictures of the band and amongst themselves. The joy was in the air.

Jixiang, Ivan and I had a smashing good time swinging to Chinese old classics, Shanghai jazz, and some English classics to cater to the crowd. Adalyn was mindful of the demography of her guests and had specially asked me to come up with a relevant repertoire, which apparently worked very well! We relished in the applause. Knowing your guests’ taste for music will definitely help the band to assist you with a relevant repertoire, and hence enable your guests to enjoy your wedding better.

Thank you Bernard and Adalyn, we wish you many years of sweet bliss. Cheers to a great couple!
