Serene & Jonathan’s thoughts: She’s Got A Way
The wedding of Johnson and Nicole was one full of beautiful and sweet surprises.
The couple had planned a little surprise twist for their first march-in, in which the band had a part to play. When the emcee (Junxiong) invited the guests to rise and welcome the couple, Jonathan (Pianist) and Lim Hui (Violinist) started playing the classical wedding march, and the guests applauded enthusiastically, eager to catch a glimpse of the couple’s entrance.
Shortly after though, both Jon and Lim Hui skilfully did a quick switch and started playing the song “今天你要嫁给我”. Everyone started cheering when they saw the very good looking couple walk-in, smiling, and with microphones in their hands started singing the popular duet while they walked down the aisle. Who wouldn’t be nervous singing during your own march-in! Yet, Johnson and Nicole did an excellent job with the duet and it was a lovely sight to see the couple, only having eyes for each other as they serenaded their other half, and having a good time as we all watched on. And on top of all that, Junxiong even made a surprise appearance where in went onstage a did a rap in Mandarin!
Johnson had planned many song items to serenade his lovely wife. After the 2nd march-in, the groom presented a special montage he had specially prepared for her. After that, Johnson explained to the guests that Nicole liked to ask him how much he loves her, and at times he couldn’t find the best way to describe how he feels. And because of that, he decided to sing Billy Joel’s “She’s Got A Way” for his wife live onstage. Those who are familiar with this song will know how beautiful the lyrics for this song are, and how it serves as a perfect answer to all of Nicole’s “queries”.
After he was done with the first song, the groom then continued with the popular Wang Lee Hom number, “Forever Love” as Nicole happily watched on. As Junxiong aptly described, we really had Superstars in the house last evening, and they were none other than the bride and groom themselves who sang so fantastically well!
The thoughtful couple had a sweet surprise item added to the menu for all their guests that evening – famous Raffles Hotel Champagne Flavoured mooncakes! They also requested for the band to play the song “月亮代表我的心” while the mooncakes were being served. This was a really beautiful gesture from the couple which showed how much they cared and appreciated their guests presence at the wedding, which coincided with the Mooncake Festival on the lunar calendar.
On top of the many sweet memories and surprises throughout the evening, the moment that truly got the guests all emotional was watching Johnson and Nicole say their vows during their solemnization ceremony. To witness a man, holding his wife’s hand and saying words that meant eternity, love and a lifetime of commitment and at the same time smiling, voice choked with emotions, and trying very hard to hold back his tears was unforgettable. And to see Nicole holding her husband’s hand tightly as she said her vows, which ended with the words “you complete my life” sealed it as the perfect moment for the evening.
Congratulations and best wishes to Johnson and Nicole! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful evening of love, generosity and thoughtfulness with us and your guests.
