Bevlyn’s Thoughts: Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered

Wan Wah and Yi Han met each other in their NUS school days when they were attending the dental school.  And although they were in the same faculty, Wah Wan and Yihan did not get to see each other much in school due to timetable differences. Hence, Yihan would find excuses to hang around the lab when Wan Wah was having lessons there. On one occasion during Yihan’s final term in school, Wan Wah suddenly popped over to his lab just to give him a cup of his favourite Starbucks coffee (the nearest Starbucks joint from NUS was the one in Holland village).

Of course, these were just a few of many sweet memories the couple shares. One of the highlights would have to be the proposal, when Yihan proposed with the ring (at home, the ring hidden inside Wan Wah’s spectacle case) and flowers (later at Serene Center) on Valentine’s day! In Wan Wah’s own words,

“I was truly surprised as Vday seemed like the corniest day to propose and both of us agree that vday is more gimmicky than romantic. Besides, flowers are marked up on vday and in Yihan’s opinion, flowers are a waste of money hence it was extra sweet (& hilarious) that he’ll choose vday to propose.”

And so fast forward a year later, there we were at their wedding banquet with the mixed repertoire of songs which they have selected. They’d chosen a song which I thought was great for march-inBewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.

The band performed the prelude before the door was opened:

He’s a fool and don’t I know it
But a fool can have his charms
I’m in love and don’t I show it
Like a babe in arms
Love’s the same old sad sensation
Lately I’ve not slept a wink
Since this half-pint imitation

And Yihan and Wan Wah stepped into the ballroom with the lyrics:

I’m wild again, beguiled again
A simpering, whimpering child again
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered – am I
Couldn’t sleep and wouldn’t sleep
When love came and told me, I shouldn’t sleep

Ein, Boon Chye and Shawn and I had a blast performing the songs, especially on the songs ” Crazy For You”, “Wishing & Hoping”, “Mr Beasley”. We also helped the couple to dedicate the mandarin classic “甜蜜蜜” to their parents! A guest came up to request “小城故事“, and even though it wasn’t in the songlist, we were happy to perform the song with technology’s help (with me looking at the lyrics on Ein’s iphone hehe).
Thank you Yihan and Wan Wah for inviting the band to be a part of their wedding celebrations. We wish you an everlasting marriage filled with sweet love, joy and happiness!
