Bevlyn’s Thoughts: 外婆的澎湖湾 (Grandma’s Peng Hu Bay)
When I first got to know that I’d be singing for Mdm Tan’s 81st birthday, I was so thrilled! There is more than her longevity to celebrate about, but also the fact that there are so many children and grandchildren by her side to make this celebration possible.

The repertoire for this performance consisted more of Mandarin classics and even Hokkien numbers, but I gamely took them up because I really want to please the birthday lady. And guess what, this popular Hokkien number is her favorite song, because according to her family, she watches this Taiwanese serial drama every weekend, rain or shine:

It was also interesting and appropriate that the family included these songs for the celebration:

2. 感恩的心 – 欧阳菲菲
3. 生日快乐 – 伍思凯
The family members and guests were shy but I could tell they really love music. One instance was the microphones being passed around and 2 guests sang along with me from their seats for “Top Of The World”. They put me to shame because they sang the song without the help of any lyrics!!
It was heartwarming to witness Mdm Tan’s children and grandchilding taking turns to take photos with her…I could only imagine the old lady’s joy to share this special day with everyone who loves her. We are really honoured to be part of this special occasion and we wish Mdm Tan Boon Liang good health, great family members, and abundance! Happy Birthday!
